A comprehensive Hugger-to-Hugger review, history, walk-around, and ride of Honda's RC51 SP2 RVT1000R / Honda VTR1000 SP2 It was Y2K and Honda’s 4 cylinders had been losing to Ducati who was enjoying a displacement advantage with its 996cc L-twins in 750cc World Superbike. So Honda designed a purpose-built WSBK Ducati killer, and in 2000, Honda and Colin Edwards did just that; beating Bayliss an...

How to Fix Panigale Overheating Cheaply
Hey man, hope you’re doing alright with those fires out there.
角張ったホライゾンと🫖丸いヤカンタンクのナイトホーク。
Just got one. It’s my 5 sports bike and 2nd liter bike.
I hope you enjoy it chief!
@ I love it! 🥰
This is a very good and almost forgotten coveted bike.
What were you saying about one piston ring seal and quick shifter and being stranded at the end of the video??
Have you serviced the suspension yet having 40,000 miles?
If a fairly new rider takes training & gets properly licensed, then Streetfighter V2 operated in wet mode (for the initial 6-9 months) is a better fit.
Hey can you make a video of launching the bike as I want to buy 1199 and I want to know if this bike has launch control or maybe the ecu is programmed to automatically launch
@@ali-zh8uz the 1199 does not have launch control or wheelie control. The 1299 has launch control, wheelie control, drift control (2017 only), and quick shift up and down. The 1199 only has quick shift up and traction control. The 1199 is way more difficult to handle than the 1299.
I’m finally doing this job now, and I learned that you don’t need to remove the full radiator fan shroud. There is just a lower section held on by six or seven torque screws. If you remove those and a couple of hoses that are fit onto it. You can pivot it out of the way.
You're referring to the screws that retain the fan duct? I'll have to try that next time. How did the job go? Did you get everything back together?
That’s correct. Everything was pretty smooth. I have the termi exhaust so instead of unbolting the collector there are two exhaust springs that you can remove just in front of the rear tire. Everything else was the same as your vid. Much appreciated. RTV should be done drying now then I’ll put it back together tomorrow.
@@shawnm8050 did the Termi cans make a noticeable torque improvement in the 5K-8K RPM range? I've gone back and forth on paying the $1500-$2000 for a couple of cans. That's almost a used motorcycle through the cheap bastard lens.
This was a really great video. Thanks for the time and effort it took you to make 🤍 I got a new UK spec SP-1 in March 2000. Funny story incoming... My bike back in those days was a '99 model CBR600F (A wonderful quick and comfortable sports tourer). I managed to stuff it into a van merging into traffic. My dealer called me a couple days later while I was nursing a very swollen arm (hairline fracture - I was lucky), to tell me they just got an SP-1 returned from a customer with 300 miles on it because he didn't like it. He had brought it back to exchange it for a new 'Blade. (That would have been the 929 and about £1500-£2000 cheaper). So I got a new SP-1 for £1000 off list with 300 miles on it. I did not know what it was, and I did not fully appreciate it, and the mindset from riding a CBR600 to this thing had to change. I nearly stuffed it in the first corner because I did not realise I was doing 60mph (I had thought 30-ish!). I learned as much as I could and started a website about the bike, just in time for the World Superbike racing season to start. There were a couple guys in the US too with RC-51s that had just started websites (Rogue was one of them and his is still going). Some names I recognise are still around to this day, which warms my heart. Anyway, I ended up in serious financial woes after 9/11 and ended up losing everything, including my SP-1. 20-ish years later (today hopefully if the weather holds) I'm picking up an early SP-2 in US colours. I'm so thrilled I might re-open my website 🥰
Don't buy one! you need at least 50 years riding experience to ride a Ducati
You’re so fuqing right! I just bought one I’m 48. When I was in my 20s-30s I wasn’t nearly ready for a bike like this. Not even close!
In the design and engineering process the Germans have nothing to do with Ducati. Bikes are fully designed, engineered in Italy by Italian teams of professionals.
I learned to ride a motorcycle when i was 18. I hadn't been back on a bike until i turned 55 and my 1st bike was a brand new 2023 Ducati Panigale V2. I have 4600 miles on it so far and its been a great mototcycle with no problems except the normal heat that comes of that cylinder, hot hot, hot 😂
Great bike. You'll enjoy that heat in the colder months. Cheers!
Hope you're doing well mate.
Pretty risky speeding like that in the communist state of Ma, great bike nice video/ love the RC 51!
Love my 2003/2004 RC.... wish I can get my hands on a Nicky Hayden edition... my life would be complete!!!!!!!!!
The prices are crazy. Might be time to find a nice TLR1000 before they pop $$$.
Lit intro lol
What is the reason people change chain and sprocket?
All of the services can be done at home, including the valve adjustment. My 2006 has 25k, and the valve check is still within factory specifications without need of adjustment. I think I wasted 95 dollars on buying the shim kit. My only concern is about the front brake disks. Nowhere to be found, other than junk yards, and good luck there too. The engine does enough braking when you get off the throttle, so not like the front brakes get used much anyway. City stuff, lights, signs, idiots pulling out, etc. Great bike, I'll take mine to the grave.
Subbed…someone that understands it’s cheaper to keep’er
you probably know this by now, but V4R has shorter gearing than V4 so the torque to the wheel between the two is about the same.
im glad to know 7 years later all the noises on my ducati are universal lmao
you don't have to cut the fan off and connect it to the battery, just put your switch on temperature sensor's wires and it will work both on switch or when temperature will go over 103C ;)
The sensor circuit is a different voltage.
Love your vids man, keep at it.
I miss my sp1. Damn you suv😢
I drove a new panigale V2, it was a testbike and I was surprised how easy it is to ride it. I am currently riding a z900 and this is my first year having my license. My next bike will be the panigale v2 for sure, probably next year
I highly recommend buying a 1299 over the V2. The prices aren't that different and both bikes are just as easy to ride....the 1299 is actually lighter. However, the 1299 in the last year with slide control etc etc is so much more bike and something you can own for a lifetime without taming. The V2 becomes underwhelming very quickly.
would you like me to 3d print a few of these locating screws?
Nice review ! But I don’t give my bike to some stranger to review. I will pass thank you..
Hey nice video, but can’t see anywhere in the workshop manual where it states to loctite the sump bolts?
Italians are very good on design - But crap with their mechanicals - That the Japanese are masters of !
Very bad placement of the battery on the ducati - the japanese bikes are better in this regard
I haven't been here in years, well before the Pandemic. Glad the 1199 and you are still around and making videos. BTW, that is so finicky of DUCATI to tell you to drop the oil sump every so and so miles to inspect, clean or replace your oil pick up screen. Just as needy as a flesh and bone Italian supermodel or a N/A BMW M3 S65 V8 that eats it's bottom end con rod (and main ?) bearings around 60-80K miles and it's considered regular wear items. 🤦♂😒👎😞 I don't think I have ever read anything like it on any of the "normal maintenance" service schedule on the Super Bikes from "The Land of Hello Kitty and Bukkake". On a serious note: This a first for me. I have always been under the assumption and it's widely understood that after braking in your engine/transmission unit, there should be NO VISIBLE PIECES attached to your drain plug magnet, only a sliver of ferrous "Forbidden Glitter" which I imagine comes mainly from your clutch's steels. Same goes for the oil pick up screen. If there's anything that you can feel and pick up with your fingertips or see with your eyes, that's normally BAD NEWS all around. Something it's chewing itself to pieces. There was no visible sludge in your sump so I guess if anything does happen in the future it can't be blamed on extended oil changes and service neglect. Keep up the good work. 👌😎👍 I'll come around from time to time.✌☺
Don’t quite understand what this is about. Is this a movie review?
"Cross-Pattern" on 3-screws is funny :D
40K miles on a Panigale is quite impressive. Not that I doubt the Ducati engineering but it would have killed my back. 🤪
No ducati service tech will do a better job than this, I guarantee it.
Hi from Norway! I like your videos man! I have a Panigale 1299s 2015 model and while driving, I hear a rattle sound like kkkkrrrrrr coming from the front of the engine. This happens only when driving and when the engine is warm and around 4000rpm. I didn’t notice any leaks, no warning on the dashboard, the cooling fans operate as they should. Any suggestions ?
Hei fra amerika. I need more information. Does the rattle change with engine RPM? How many miles on the bike? It could be that the valves need to be adjusted and have excessive clearance between the cam and followers. Put your ear to the radiators while kneeling in front of the bike and rev the engine slowly to see if you can hear the rattling change with engine speed. If it doesn't change with speed, shut the bike off while coasting down a bumpy hill and listen. Could be the front brake pads or forks rattling. My 1199 rattles in the forks. Always has.
@@FancyAnimal the rattle dissapears after 4000rpm, it has less than 17000km thats is about 10500mi
@@FancyAnimal the rattle is audible only while driving - the bike moving and between 3500-4000rpm
@@FancyAnimal Hey! The bile has about 10500mi. The rattle can be heard only when driving round 4500rpm mostly on 2 ned 3rd gear
@@FancyAnimal hi! The rattle happens around 4000rpm and the bike has about 10000miles. The rattle happens only when driving
Always wanted this bike. Couldn’t afford one I like so I went with my next choice. Anniversary xb12R. Came from a highly upgraded sv560 to a few modded Harley’s and the buell really does it for me. It check all the boxes but I do want a rc51 and an inline 4 but that one is to be determined.
Have you considered a Honda Super Chicken, AKA SuperHawk? Similar power and capacity motor to the RC51. Great street bike.
Good video, I used Oberon on my ktm 1290, I back used a syringe to back bleed it, it’s nice to see proper mileage on one of these bikes, it’s a good reference for prospective used buyers, are you going to take this bike all the way to 💀?
Picked up a 14’ 1199 Pani 2 years ago with 2k miles. Mint condition, $12k. Not the best nor worst deal but it was the dream bike. (9th bike in my life)
Careful on those double yellow passes man. Thanks for the insight.
Hi guys anyone… So I have panigale V4S 2020 and after maybe around 6000km I started to have hot start problems, cold start is perfect but on summer days after riding my bike and stop to refuel and after 5/10 min I want to go he stard bad like almost dying then I have to give a little bit gas or he managed to come back live again after few seconds…..is it possible that is it that evap canister making problems….?? Only bad hot start anything else bike works perfectly… Any thoughts thx….!??
That is how my bike presented the problem... difficult starts on hot days. Try bypassing the EVap canister. You can always reinstall. Juat note that my video is for the 1199. V4 may have a different plumbing circuit. Just follow the tubing.
Hey Fancy, can you do a current mileage review and maintaince items and cost? I'm nearing 24k on my 1199R. Clutch slave is failing so I'm wondering what else I might refresh. I know there is a maintaince schedule but rather do a big update at once.
did you leave the heat shrink tubing on with the screws?
Those were very expensive to manufacture and Honda lost money on them in order to race it, pinnacle of Honda quality then , just look at that race bike really.....
Love That #69 🇺🇸 Decal On It.
funniest shit i’ve watched on youtube lmaoo dude was not afraid to let his voice be heard 6:57 🤣🤣🤣🤣 LMAAOOO
